Ariana Grande disabled comments on her Instagram profile Friday evening (Sept. 7) in the wake of her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller’s death.Miller, born Malcolm McCormick, died at the age of 26 on Friday afternoon in a suspected drug overdose. In the hours after the news broke, Grande’s Instagram posts were flooded with comments blaming her for the rapper and producer’s tragic fate.”It’s crazy because you really did kill him,” one user wrote, according to a screenshot from PopCrave. Several users wrote, “This is your fault.”A look through her Instagram account shows some posts still have comments disabled while fans still have the option to comment on others.Grande and Miller dated for nearly two years before breaking up this spring. Shortly after the split, Miller crashed a vehicle and was arrested for a DUI, which prompted a similar wave of blame on Grande’s social media profiles. The singer responded to harassment at the time with a defense of her support for the rapper and a condemnation of shaming women in toxic relationships.”I am not a babysitter or a mother and no woman should feel that they need to be. I have cared for him and tried to support his sobriety & prayed for his balance for years (and always will of course), but shaming/blaming women for a man’s inability to keep his shit together is a very major problem,” she wrote on Twitter.The singer continued, “I didn’t share how hard or scary it was while it was happening but it was. I will continue to pray from the bottom of my heart that he figures it all out and that any other woman in this position does as well.”Grande became engaged to actor Pete Davidson months after her relationship with Miller ended. The Pittsburgh native expressed his support for the couple in a July interview with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe. “It’s all positive energy. I am happy for her and moving forward with her life just as I’m sure she is with me,” he said.Dozens of rappers have expressed their sorrow and paid tribute to Miller in the aftermath of his death. His record label Warner Bros. has called the loss “devastating” and his family has requested privacy.”He was a bright light in this world for his family, friends and fans,” Miller’s family said in a statement to Rolling Stone. “Thank you for your prayers.”See Photos of Mac Miller’s Different Looks Over the Year window.twttr = (function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0], t = window.twttr || {}; if (d.getElementById(id)) return t; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); t._e = []; t.ready = function(f) { t._e.push(f); }; return t; }(document, “script”, “twitter-wjs”)); (function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, “script”, “facebook-jssdk”));
